The NHSA is honoured to welcome Eric Schnitzer as our speaker for this event, in which we study the battles of Freeman’s Farm and Bemis Heights that proved decisive in the Saratoga campaign of the American Revolutionary War in 1777. Eric has been a ranger and historian at Saratoga National Historical Park for more than 20 years. Among other publications on the Revolutionary War and the Northern Campaign in particular, he has co-authored, with the artist, Don Troiani, Liberty and most recently the richly illustrated, Campaign to Saratoga –1777. As one curator has said, Eric is “the authority on the campaign of 1777″ whose extensive and detailed research has contributed to a “nuanced understanding of [the] historical events and actors with sympathy, understanding and accuracy”. The talk will take place at the NHSA on Sunday 5 May 2024 at 1.30 pm and will be accompanied by an exhibition and tabletop simulation of the battles. Please contact Philip Marshall on 07946 041733 if you would like to attend.
