The NHSA are very honoured to welcome Professor Raymond Callahan as our speaker for this event in which we study the key battle of Kohima in the Burma theatre in 1944. Ray Callahan is a pre-eminent contemporary authority on Field Marshal Slim and the Burma campaign. His many acclaimed works include “Triumph at Imphal-Kohima: How the Indian Army Finally Stopped the Japanese Juggernaut”, named as one of the most outstanding books on World War 2 history in 2017. He is also the winner of the Templer Prize in 2022 for his “The 1945 Burma Campaign and the Transformation of the British Indian Army”. Ray is a former Professor at the University of Delaware and director of the Master of Arts and Liberal Studies Program. He held the John F. Morrison Chair of Military History at the US Army’s Command and General Staff College and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
