SUMMARY:The Battle of Pavia  - Culimination of the Italian Wars
DESCRIPTION:The NHSA is delighted to welcome Charles Singleton as our speaker for an event in which we study the battle of Pavia of 1525\, arguably the decisive battle of the Renaissance Italian Wars. Charles was the editor of the Oxford Companion to Military History and is the author of several books on early modern warfare including Famous by my Sword: The Army of Montrose and the Military Revolution. He is the creative director for the Early Modern Portfolio for the military history publishers Helion & Co. and created the “Century of the Soldier 1618-1721” and the “From Retinue to Regiment 1453-1618” series for them. He is due to publish a guide to the Italian Wars next year. Charles’ talk on Pavia\, as a battle in the context of its time\, will take place at 9.15 am on Sunday 3 December 2023 and will be accompanied by a simulation of the battle.
