SUMMARY:The Battle of Marengo 1800
DESCRIPTION:The NHSA is delighted to welcome Terry Crowdy as our speaker at this further event in which we study the victory of Napoleon\, as First Consul of France\, at the Battle of Marengo. `Terry is an eminent Napoleonic author whose many works include ‘Incomparable’ – a detailed regimental history of the French 9th Light Infantry Regiment (its predecessor the 9th Demi Brigade was a key unit at Marengo); ‘Napoleon’s Infantry Manual’ – an essential guide to daily life in Napoleon’s Grande Armée; and\, most pertiitently\, ‘Marengo’ – an in-depth reappraisal of this important conflict. A specialist in infantry topics (particularly light infantry)\, his books include studies on the French navy and women camp followers in the era. Terry has a high reputation for his painstaking archive research\, and lively narrative style. His books have a wide international distrubution and he has made numerous radio and TV appearances. The talk will take place on Saturday 13 September at 1.30 pm and will be accompanied by an exhibition as usual. Please contact Philip Marshall on 07946 041733 if you would like to attend.
